Uganda: French music meets the Janzi at the cultural concert of the Alliance Française


French musician Alicia and James Ssewakiryanga Junior also known as Ssewa Ssewa, the founder of Janzi Band promised a stellar performance at a concert organized by Alliance Française Kampala and Uganda National Cultural Center in Kampala .

The concert, which is part of the Francophone month, will take place on Saturday March 26 at the Théâtre National.

“It’s my first time to Uganda and I’m ready to experience what this country has to offer. However, I have to say that I’m ready for a massive performance during the concert,” said Alicia, a Frenchwoman. 19, at a press conference. Report.

Ssewa Ssewa totally agrees, adding that together with his group Janzi, they prepared to give the audience their best performance.

“As Janzi Group, we are happy to be part of this concert and we are ready to give our garlic,” he said.

He also revealed that they would be looking forward to having a collaboration with the French singer.

“We hope this is the start of a long-term collaboration with her but also to sell ourselves there. We have listened to her music and we will see how we can collaborate on a bigger project. We are working on something as a group and I hope we can record with her,” said Ssewa Ssewa, the founder of the Janzi group, 12 years ago.

Because Alicia said she would welcome with warm hands the mix of her French music and traditional Ugandan instruments played by the Janzi group.

Speaking at the same ceremony, Simon Jarru, the cultural coordinator of Alliance Française de Kampala, said the concert will launch their return to the National Theater and it is the start of many more things to come.

He noted that in the future, French lessons will still be offered at the National Theater and not at the Alliance Française offices in Bukoto as before.
